All the children of Khalajan are settled in the US except Asad who lives in Bangalore, India.

Suroor Jafry is the eldest of the children of Khalajan and Khaloojan. Suroor Apya is a dental surgeon and has her clinic in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, US. She is a very kind-hearted person and cares a lot for the family. This caring for the family trait is best illustrated in that she brought all her younger siblings except Asad, and Khalajan to the US immediately after the death of Khaloojan.

​

Besides proficiency in her professional life, Suroor Apya is also involved in various social programs and activities in the neighborhood. She has started a program Universal Metro Asian Services that has 11 shelters helping older and needy Asians in various walks of life. She dedicates this aspect of her life to having learned from the family tradition of “feed others first”.

 

Suroor Apya has two daughters and a son.

Zainab

Khadeeja (Katherine)

 

The eldest daughter, Zainab Jafri is also a dentist and practices with Suroor Apya. She also lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her husband, Ghazanfer Ali Sheerazee with her daughter, Zaria, and son, Zain.

 

The second off-spring of Suroor Apya is Hur Jafri. Hur is also a doctor and lives in the suburbs of Chicago with his wife, Aba, and two daughters, Elena and Ariana, and a son, Aaron.

 

Suroor Apya’s third off-spring is Khadeeja (Katherine) Jafri who is not married as yet and lives with Suroor Apya. She is a Choreographer by profession.

Shaheena Jafry is the second child of Khalajan. She is a doctor with a specialization in Psychiatry. She has her clinic in the suburb of Chicago. Shaheena is also a very pleasing personality and a family person. She has worked in Iraq and Kuwait for long time along with her husband, Dr Masood Athar. She now lives in a place, Freeport, not far from Chicago. Masood Bhai is also a heart specialist. He presently works for the state of Illinois.

Heba

Heba is also a physician by profession but does not practice and prefers to work for CDC (Center of Disease Control), a Federal government entity. Heba lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband, Salman Rizvi, and two sons - ??

The third child of Khalajan is Ruhi Jafry. Ruhi has done two masters – M. Sc. In Chemistry from Bombay University and also from the University of Chicago. Ruhi is definitely not a combatant personality as projected by her regular fights with me. She is very kind by nature and she too cares for the family a lot. She has been THINKING of taking retirement from her work in a hospital laboratory for quite some time now but somehow it has not materialized as yet. Ruhi along with her husband, Mustafa Farooqi, also lives in a suburb of Chicago. Mustafa Bhai is a financier and is THE FINANCE guy of the family.

 

Ruhi has a daughter and a son.

Fatima

Ali

 

The daughter, Fatima (Fati), is a Nurse by profession and lives in Phoenix, Arizona. She is married to Justin and plans on moving near Ruhi and Mustafa Bhai very soon. Fati has a son, Hadi, born around February 2019.

 

The son, Ali, is an Auditor by profession and is still not married and is currently living with his parents in Chicago.

Asad Jafry is the fourth child of Khalajan. My memory of Asad is as an intelligent kid with a head-strong mind-set. I do not know much about Asad or his family except that he currently lives in Bangalore, India. His eldest son, Hussain that Asad had left with in the US for Khalajan to take care of, was brought up by Farah and Urfi after Khalajan’s death.

The last information I have about Hussain is that after High School he had joined the US Army and after coming back from the combat mission had been living somewhere in California.

Shagufta Jafry is the fifth child of Khalajan. Shagufta had migrated to the US very early, sometime in 1975-76. She completed her graduation from California. She works in the Financial Services Industry as a senior consultant. She had married Paul Biggs and lives in California. Paul was a very pleasing personality. He died very recently, November 2018, after a long illness. Shagufta (Shaggo) is also a very charming personality. Her main family asset is her passion for religion – everything about Shiasm. Most of the time, she spends the first ten days of Muharram in Karbala, Iraq.

None of her kids are married as yet. Yasmin has a degree in Technical Management. She is also an Opera singer. Michael has a degree in Network Security (cybersecurity).

Zulfiqar Jafri is the sixth child of Khalajan. Zulfiqar (Zulfi) also migrated to the US along with Khalajan and other members of the family. Zulfi did not further study in the US after studying in India – Sitapur, Bombay, and Aligarh. He also lives in the suburb of Chicago with his wife Nakhri who is originally from Cambodia.

Both Zainab and Hassan have joined the US Army after studies and are not married as yet.

The seventh child of Khalajan is Urfi Jafri. Urfi also migrated to the US along with Khalajan and other members of the family. Urfi also lives in the suburb of Chicago with his charming wife Sadaf who is originally from Azamgarh, India.

Son Kumail who has just completed graduation, first daughter Mahvesh who is doing a Nursing course and another daughter Areesha who is the baby of the family. Kumail is a very good basketball player.

Farah Jafri is the eighth child of Khalajan. She also came to the US with Khalajan. Farah is a CPA (Chartered Accountant) by profession. She also lives in the suburb of Chicago with her husband, Sadiq Rajwani who is a Loan Officer in a bank. Farah is very religious but at the same time, she is very much an outdoor personality. She is always the brain behind any family activity and so is Sadiq who is a good planner of family trips. He always takes on the responsibilities of making arrangements for family trips. All the family trips are always planned and arranged by Sadiq and he does it in a very well-organized manner.
